Cats Cats Cats

Cats are a popular pet to keep in Japan. There are also many Neko Cafe's for cat lovers who like to enjoy spending time drinking coffee, or reading a book, being surrounding by many cats.

I  grew up surrounded by animals and noticed how they can help enhance human lives with their company. I stumbled across a website one day and learned there is a problem with stray cats in Japan. I was sad to realise many kittens are abandoned by owners, or are the result of unneutered and unspayed cats. They end up either surrendered to Animal Control, or die from the cold, or the road.

I was happy to find an organisation called the Japan cat network who are trying to tackle this ongoing problem. They carry out TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) whereby stray cats are caught, neutered to prevent anymore stray kittens, and then released back to their territory. I saw they had also saved many kittens and cats and were looking for permanent homes for them. I contacted them at first through curiosity, and decided to go ahead and adopt one.

I am now the lucky owner  / best friend of Tora. He has been with me since Valentines day 2010, and every day I consider myself lucky to have him in my life.
